Clippers Gain Three In Deal With Wolves

In one of the first major trades of the NBA summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded away Sebastian Telfair, and forwards Mark Madsen and Craig Smith, in return for the LA Clippers Quentin Richardson. The trade gives the ‘Wolves some cap room due to getting rid of Telfair’s 2.7 million dollar contract. Minnesota owner David Kahn was on his way to Spain to visit draft pick Ricky Rubio while the trade was completed. The point guard spot is going to be left up to rookie Jonny Flynn, unless they hook Rubio, who has a multimillion-dollar buyout of his contract with Joventut. They could possibly halt him going to the Twin Cities. Some had been speculating that this was a sign they were going to get Rubio, but Kahn said, “This isn’t a precursor of any sort,” he said of the Spanish guard. “I have no feel yet whether Ricky will be joining us next season or not.” Telfair tweeted on the situation, saying that, “”Just got traded to clippers. I’m a little upset becuase (sic) I love Minnesota but I think I will be happy in LA also.”
