Currently only one point behind the Eastern Conference leading Chicago (7-3-7), the Columbus Crew are looking to leap over the Fire into first place in tonight’s game against Toronto FC. The Trillium Cup is on the line for both teams, a rivalry trophy started last year by both teams, and the mayors of both cities agreed to wear the jersey of the other team if they lost. Since the two starting playing in 2007, the Crew have not lost a single game in the Trillium Cup. (The 2007 games were unofficial to the cup)

But tonight’s game is important to the Crew (6-3-9), who are looking to be the top seed in the Eastern Conference like they were last year, when they won their first ever MLS Cup, and second ever Supporters Shield. With a win or tie tonight, the Crew will have tied their own MLS record for 19 consecutive regular season games without a loss, a record they set in 2005. “We play with confidence at home,” said forward Steven Lenhart. “We battle knowing we’re going to come away with a win or tie and go onto the next one. It’s definitely on our mind.”

The Crew are going to be without Guillermo Schelotto (hamstring) and Alejando Moreno (groin) for tonight’s 7:30 game at Crew Stadium. They are losing the scorers of over 50% of their goals of the season. Toronto FC (7-6-5) is going to miss O’Brian White (knee) and Adrian Serioux (knee).
