Boston Acquires Brian Anderson For Kotsay
New trade of the day news comes out of the Windy City, with Boston and the White Sox trading players. Boston gave up Mark Kotsay, who batted .257 with one HR and 5 RBI in 27 games. Chicago dealt away cash considerations, and outfielder Brian Anderson, who had been asked to be traded since the beginning of the season. He is currently batting .238 with 2 HR and 13 RBI. However, Anderson’s wish of starting regularly probably won’t come true at Boston, he will most likely be demoted to AAA-Pawtucket.
“A guy at my age, I told him, and not that I’ve turned heads by any means offensively, but I need to play every day and be an everyday big leaguer. I have more to offer. If it’s not with the White Sox, then maybe it really is time for a change,” Anderson said last week about his status with the White Sox. “As much as this is a team game, I have to look out for myself from a career standpoint. So, it’s best to make a change and move on and hopefully start fresh somewhere else and part ways respectfully. But I love those guys and wish them the best.”
