Reds of Late Make Titanic Look Like Its Floating
It’s pitiful. It truly is a joke to turn the TV on to Fox Sports Ohio anymore. Today is just another punch line in the comedy joke that is the month of July for the slumping Cincinnati Nationals, i mean… um, Reds. I luckily was spared having to think about them today. I only recieved my daily game update that read bluntly: “Reds lost.” With the score afterwords. I got to read about the 2-10 with RISP on ESPN later, and the “stellar” start of Johnny Cueto, who gave up 6 ER and 9 hits, in only 5 innings. “They found every hole on the field,” Baker said. “They were wearing the hole out between first and second,” Dusty said after the game.
For the Padres, Will Venable had an excellent day at the dish, going 4-5, with a home run, and 4 RBI. His 3-run blast in the 5th broke the game wide open at 6-1. Venable’s father played for the Reds in the 80′s, and checks up on him daily. “My dad always pays attention to the box scores,” Will said. “It’s nice to contribute. At times, it feels close. At other times, it feels far away. It helps to have my dad just a phone call away, so he can let me know about the ups and downs.”
That’s pretty much all I want to say about this game, and this stellar month of July the Reds are having. Hey Dusty, remember that time you let Weathers pitch to Pujols on the 3rd of July? Yeah, so do I. That pretty much killed the energy the Reds had semi built up.
