A Buckeye having trouble in the desert in Arizona again? Yes, it looks that way as Beanie Wells has a right ankle sprain that forced him to sit out Sunday’s practice. Some are saying it will be a month, but Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt doesn’t believe it will be that serious. “We’ll see how he progresses through the week,” Whisenhunt said. “I don’t anticipate it will be what everybody’s reacting to, saying he’s out for a month or something like that.”

As a Buckeye fan, we all remember his last injury, a foot injury while carrying the football at the goal line against Youngstown State in the opener last year. He was forced to sit out the USC game, which was a…. well, bad game for the Buckeyes without the key tailback, getting crushed 35-3. Beanie was optimistic about this injury. “If you guys saw it it was a bad play and I’m just fortunate to walk away from it with nothing but an ankle sprain,” he said.

The Cardinals could really use Wells right now, being very thin at the running back position, with only 2nd year man Tim Hightower being the main focus for Arizona.”Unfortunately for Beanie, he’s a rookie and it would have been nice to get him some reps,” Whisenhunt said, “but we still have plenty of time to do that.”
