Vick Back In The NFL? Within Week Possibly
This morning, (while I was still asleep) ex-Indy coach Tony Dungy was talking to Mike and Mike about the person he’s advising, ex-Falcons QB Michael Vick. Dungy told Mike and Mike that he believes that “something’s gonna happen this week” with Vick, who was in prison for 23 months for a dogfighting ring. “A lot of people then began to call me. And I got calls from a lot of coaches and most of the coaches said ‘Hey, tell me about it, if I wanted to sign this guy, I would want to look in his eyes and find out if anything’s different…give me that feel,” Dungy went on to say.
Vick is allowed to sign with a team, and participate with the team in anything, except for a game until Week 6. That is when commissioner Roger Goodell can decide whether or not to give him full reinstatement. Dungy believes that Vick is a changed man without a doubt. “And I did I recommend [Vick] to maybe a dozen guys. I think he has changed as a person. I think he recognizes what he did and the lifestyle that he had wasn’t conducive to not only playing well, but it was detrimental to a lot of young people. I think he had about 18 months to think about that.
Vick’s agent, Joel Segal, spoke Tuesday and said that “there are a lot of teams interested” in Vick. Segal was at the Redskins training camp, but said that the trip did not have anything to do with Vick. He said he was visiting some of his clients for Washington. His agent also feels that Vick has changed for the better, claiming he is “a better person and very determined to come back and do well.”
