In a school that has produced a major quantity of Division I athletws, Cleveland’s Glenville Academic Campus has many more on the way. Shane Wynn is the next offensive catalyst in the long line of names including 2006 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Troy Smith of the Baltimore Ravens, Ted Ginn of the Miami Dolphins and Donte Whitner of the Buffalo Bills just to name a few.

Wynn a member of the class of 2011, is a speedster on the sidelines, serving as a wide receiver and return specialist. Runnnig back several returns for touchdowns, Wynn, who also completes on the track team is a key component to a Tarblooder offense that knows how to put up points. The intriguing thing about Wynn is that he fits the mold of the aforementioned Ginn. Ginn, a member of the Glenville class of 2004, starred on campus all four years for his father’s team, playing both ways and eventually committing to receiver once he enrolled at Ohio State. For Wynn, his situation looks the same. Although only standing at 5’6″, Wynn is a versatile downfield runner that has shown the ability to outrun the entire defense. Similar to Ginn, #13 also has the game changing ability, in a playoff game at Lakewood St. Ed’s in 2007, Wynn caught a normal screen pass, with no open lane to run, Wynn turned a broken play into a large gain, streaking back across the field, making defenders miss and bringing the Tarblooders offensive assault a first down, which eventually led to a touchdown.watch?v=CQA_leBZ7Xk

Now going into his junior season, this will be the year for Wynn to prove the recruiting sites, which don’t have him listed among the top athlets in the country, wrong as this Glenville team is ranked fifth in the nation and the offensive production will be in large part to Wynn. With Arkansas, Ohio State, Florida and Cincinnati among others on his list, the 4.43 running junior looks to have a monster season. Featuring a tough schedule, Wynn and Glenville is out to take down rival St. Ignatius and take the state of Ohio by storm, if not the entire nation with a state championship and quite possibly a USA Today national title.
