Why Don’t You Play Someone?

Dear Boise State, why don’t you play someone? You constantly whine about not getting the national respect that you claim you deserve. The 39th ranked strength of schedule (found it here) that you have currently have will most likely fall in the coming weeks, since no one really thinks that games against Tulsa, Hawaii, and San Jose State will get you much credit, as it shouldn’t. When you sit at 12-0 and we hear a low whine from a place out west with blue turf, our computers won’t change their minds.
We know that you played Oregon this year, and that you beat them, but your choice of other non-conference games such as Miami (Ohio) and Bowling Green make us frown on you. We’re sorry, but only playing 4 ranked opponents in 4 years certainly hurts your chances in the computers, and in the minds of the pollsters.
Sincerely,
The BCS
I’m sorry, but Boise State is very overrated in my mind. I listen to people that say Boise State is so great, or that they deserve more respect in the polls. But honestly, if you look at their “body of work”, dating back to 2006, they have only played one game per year against ranked opponents. More than likely, 2009 is going to shape out in great ways for Boise State somehow. They will take advantage of all of the losses felt by the power conference teams, like Penn State, USC, and California. I just hope that they don’t sneak into the title game somehow. What I wrote above is my dream letter, or at least what the BCS people should feel.
