East’s Dixon scores 46 in loss to Mifflin
Giving up an 11 point lead with four minutes left is never fun but for East’s Jeremiah Dixon, Tuesday night’s game was on to remember. Opening up City League play against crosstown rival Mifflin, Dixon torched the Punchers for 46 points including four threes, in part of a game where the guard knocked down 12 at the line, LeBron-esque?
Even with the brilliant performance from Dixon, Mifflin was just too much for the Tigers to handle as East was outscored 31-16 at home in the final session to lose 80-78. The only positive coming from this game is the improvement the Tigers showed coming off an 08-09 campaign where the traditionally good East program sunk to a record of 5-15.
Mifflin on the otherhand has stirred up some trouble of their own, as rumors have surfaced that the Punchers have guaranteed victories against Northland, the reigning City and State champs. If Mifflin is for real, the progress was shown on Tuesday as the Punchers have shot out to a 3-0 record, just as many wins as last season. Putting everything aside, Dixon was the best player on the floor last night, putting himself at the top of the City League for scoring outputs in a game this season.
