This new installment of the iPod/iPhone app reviews gives you a new spin on mini racing. Nano Rally, coming it at a cheap 0.99$. The only thing that is not small about it is the file size, a hefty 57.5MB of space. For most users, we can fit that without any problem. The app itself is a keeper, a fun race game that can really truly be addicting. The company that produced it, SD Games, has other games that are excellent also, and I will soon be reviewing them as well.

Controls/Visuals: This is the only downfall of the game I think. The tilt controls are excellent, I highly reccomend using them instead of the left and right buttons. Personally, the game would be better if it were done in landscape mode, rather than portrait. You can also set the game to automatically get on the gas pedal by itself.

Gameplay: When it just comes down to racing, this game is good. You have to win to unlock tracks, something that I find really challenging. You can do a career type mode, that is where you unlock the other 6 sections of the tracks. There are a total of 25 tracks that you can have once you unlock them all.

The physics of the game in my opinion are fairly solid. The title has rally in it, so the drifting is going to play a part in the racing itself. I think that the devolopers made the game fairly realistic, and the racing is good. The AI racers (you just see their times, not them physically) are very difficult I think.

Summary: This is an app I recommend to anyone who likes to just have a fun racing game to play on occasion. I play this once a day or so, and it’s a fun little racing game to enjoy from time to time. Some of the downfalls bring this game off of a chance to be on my top 10 apps list.

Score: 7.5/10

Superbike racing wins at the 2.4-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course are usually taken by either Mat Mladin, or Miguel Duhamel. But this weekend, the story belonged to the 34-year old Josh Hayes, as he took both of the American Superbike titles from the Honda Super Cycle Weekend at Mid-Ohio. He lead for all of Sunday’s race, minus the start. He passed Tommy Hayden in the esses (turn 6) on the first lap, and only had one other stumble, when he was passed by Ben Bostrom on the same turn 6, only to see Bostrom nearly lose control of his bike after making the pass, and was forced to fall back to second. “One lap I had a full second gap, and the rest of the time I had these guys breathing down my neck. This is what you feel good about; when you go home you know that you put it all out there, that these guys were having a good day too and you came out on top. It doesn’t matter how much you win by, it’s the difference between racing and just going fast around a race track.” Hayes said of his nearly one second victory over Aaron Yates.

The series points leader, Mat Mladin, finished seventh on his No. 7 Rockstar/Makita Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000. His lead is still very controlling, holding the series over Tommy Hayden by 126 points still. Mladin had swept last year’s races at Mid-Ohio.
